Process Characterization — Exercise Two

The objective of the process characterization workshop is to characterize process response by making step changes in the process input. The trend chart for the workshop should be used to examine the process response to changes in the process input.

Step 1. In the process characterization1 workspace, determine the process gain, deadtime and time constant by making a step change. For example, 40=>50 in the SP parameter of the AO block. Observe the response on the trend chart. To change the SP parameter, the MODE parameter of the AO block must be set to Auto.

Step 2. Repeat this test, using different SP parameter values to see if you get the same results.

Question: Based on the observed response, how should the process be classified?
