Model Predictive Control

This Model Predictive Control workshop is designed to allow you to explore and become more familiar with model predictive control. The control performance of MPC versus PID for override control will be demonstrated in this workshop.

Step 1. In the Model Predictive Control workspace, observe the way MPC has been layered on top of the PID override control . With the AO block in Auto, change the AO block setpoint by a step and observe the response.

Step 2. With the AO block in Cascade mode, change the disturbance input and observe the response of the PID override control.

Step 3. Switch the AO block to RCas mode, change the disturbance input, and observe the control response of the MPC.

Question: Was the observed response equivalent (PID vs MPC)?
